Evangelist Asif Hassan was born into a Muslim home in the Republic of Guyana. Due to the separation of his parents at a very young age, he and his brother migrated to Toronto, Canada where they lived with an uncle until their mother's arrival to Canada. At the tender age of 13, Asif found himself associating with the wrong crowd, which quickly developed into a lifestyle of crime. At the age of 17, after a few years of being in and out of jail, Asif found himself on the run from another outstanding warrant for his arrest. This led to his encounter with Jesus.
Asif often tells those who come to hear his testimony, "I never wanted this Jesus, I didn't want another god, or another religion and I definitely didn't need another set of rules. Yet, what I didn't know was that He (Jesus), loved me and wanted me and had a plan for my life!" Asif had a marvelous encounter with Jesus, where the hand of his Saviour physically touched him. His conversion was instantaneous and miraculous in all its rights.
Asif's struggles as a teenager left him scarcely able to read or write by the age of 17. With this newly found hunger for God, Asif later enrolled at Canada Christian College, a school for graduate theological studies. In 1999 he graduated with a Bachelors of Theology. This was a great accomplishment and testimony to the miraculous working of the Holy Spirit in his life.
In June of 1999, two days before his graduation from Seminary, Asif was in his bedroom when an audible voice, the voice of Jesus, spoke to him. The words that he heard were, "Son, I have prepared you and you must go to Guyana, I will give you the nation."
This was the beginning of Asif's ministry. Since that encounter, a great burden came upon him that has driven his heart to rescue souls from the grip of hell. Not just from his nation of Guyana, but also around the world. Asif holds to the conviction "That non should perish," and believes that his mandate is to preach the Gospel fervently in hopes that none will perish.
Asif began walking in his calling by conducting his first crusades in Guyana. His first endeavor was held at the National Sports hall, where 900 souls attended. Since then, Asif has preached to over 12,000 people in a single meeting. His Gospel Crusades attract crowds of thousands around the world – they come to hear about the love of Jesus.
In November of 2007 renowned Evangelist Reinhard Bonnke invited Asif for a "Face to Face" encounter and a time of training. Asif along with 49 other Evangelists were instructed, and given insights and resources by Evangelist Bonnke to effectively plan and execute evangelistic campaigns. This time spent has revolutionized Asif's heart and has set him on a journey to win 100,000 souls in Guyana. His vision is to win 1,000,000 souls in the next several years around the world.
Thanks to Reinhard Bonnke and his impartation, Asif launched his new Gospel Campaign strategy in 2008 in Essequibo, Guyana. The results were astronomical, with over 13,000 attending in the three nights of meetings, with many healed and delivered.
Because of his concern for spreading of the gospel Asif has also adopted Evangelist Bonnke's "Fire Conference" as part of his thrust to win the nations. Asif believes that every believer should be fully furnished and equipped for evangelism as there is no substitute for the "Fire of the Holy Spirit" in the life of the believer.
Asif's love for people has led him into other areas of ministry. He and his wife launched the humanitarian aid outreach ministry of Hope Guyana. Hope Guyana is the umbrella for which Asif and his ministry team builds homes, feeds the poor, and looks after needy families in Guyana.
Because of God's tremendous favour on Asif's life, he has also had many opportunities to minister the word with boldness and with power at conferences, training workshops, and revival meetings in Canada, the United States, and around the world. The meetings carry a very strong presence of the Holy Spirit, with many testimonies of salvation, healings and deliverance in the services.
Asif and his wife Christine currently live in Toronto with his two sons Aviel, and Daniel. |
